I already own this necklace because it was gifted to me three years ago. I have never taken it off - I swim with it, shower with it, gym with it, etc. Now three years later, yes the gold plating is wearing off and it is tarnishing but it’s not that obvious to other people and the gem also still holds its sparkle! I just decided to treat myself and buy myself a replacement but honestly I could go longer with my old one. I particularly love this design because the gem is fixed in place on the chain, so I never have to worry about the gem flipping around and facing the wrong way.
